Directors’ Training Intensive
A three-day gathering for ministry leaders in need of steadiness and renewal
Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Description
The Directors’ Training Intensive was a three-day immersive experience designed for ministry leaders carrying significant responsibility and strain. Twenty leaders gathered in Winston-Salem after a demanding season of service, many arriving depleted and stretched thin.
The Intensive created an unhurried, relational environment where participants were invited to show up not as roles or titles, but as whole people. Through guided reflection, thoughtful teaching, prayer, and shared conversation, leaders engaged in meaningful inner work while also making room for play, laughter, and rest.
The Challenge
Many participants entered exhausted and unsure of what they needed. Losses had gone unnamed. Longings had been deferred. Hopes had quietly dimmed beneath the pace of ministry. While they were leading faithfully, their own interior lives had received little attention.
They did not need more leadership tools. They needed space to slow down enough to be honest—with themselves and with God.
The Win
Over the course of three days, the group gradually settled into deeper honesty. Participants named grief they had not acknowledged and rediscovered places where hope still lived. The atmosphere of trust allowed both depth and joy to coexist.
By the end of the Intensive, circumstances had not necessarily changed—but something deeper had. Leaders left more grounded in Jesus, with greater clarity, steadiness, and trust for the road ahead.
One participant reflected:
“I came into the Intensive exhausted and unsure of what I even needed. The pace allowed me to slow down enough to be honest—with myself and with God. I was able to name losses I hadn’t acknowledged and notice where hope still lived. There was depth, but there was also joy and laughter, which surprised me. I left more rooted in Jesus, not because my circumstances had changed, but because I felt steadier and more attentive to His presence in my life.”
The Directors’ Training Intensive offered more than refreshment. It cultivated rootedness—equipping leaders to return to their ministries not hurried, but anchored.
