Days of Encouragement for Ministry Leaders & Counselors

from $125.00

A Gentle Space to Exhale, Be Known, and Be Renewed in the Presence of Christ as You Tend to Your Soul

Ministry leaders and counselors spend so much of their life tending to others—holding stories, offering wisdom, showing up with presence and care. And yet, the quiet demands of that work—the constant availability, the weight of others’ pain, the pressure to keep going—can slowly leave little space for your own soul to be attended to. This Thursday evening and Friday gathering is a space created just for you. A place to exhale, to laugh a little more than you expected, and to meet with Jesus in a way that feels gentle, honest, and unforced. Together, we’ll make room to notice your own inner life before God—without pressure, performance, or pretense. You’ll leave with a few meaningful practices to carry with you, but more than that, with a renewed sense of being seen, steadied, and quietly encouraged in the work you’ve been entrusted with. Lunch is provided on Friday—come as you are, and let yourself be cared for. We will make sure the coffee is good! No Folgers on our watch!

Who: For anyone in any type of ministry (Christian counselor, spiritual director, pastors, church staff, parachurch ministries, Young Life leaders, elders, deacons, lay leaders, church planters, volunteer church counselors, small group leaders, etc.)

When: Thursday, October 22nd, from 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm and Friday, October 23rd, from 9 am - 3 pm.

Where: Fellowship North - 3203 Tazewell Pike in Knoxville, TN

Cost: $125 (includes snacks and lunch on Friday)

For the Ones Who Show Up for Everyone Else, A Day Just for You

  • A space intentionally designed for you to step out of your role, where you don’t have to perform, fix, lead, or have the right words

  • Permission to come as you are, whether you feel engaged or quiet, talkative or reflective, steady or worn down

  • Optional “no small talk” tables for those who need quiet space without having to explain themselves or manage conversation

  • A relaxed, hospitable environment with lunch provided and thoughtful dietary options, so you can simply receive without having to plan or prepare

  • Gentle, low-pressure opportunities to step outside, take a walk, or engage in simple creative practices that help you reset, with no expectations attached

  • Space for both rest and lightness, because encouragement isn’t only serious, it also makes room for joy, including treats from Cruze Farm Ice Cream

  • Honest, grounded teaching from seasoned leaders who understand the real demands of both ministry and counseling, not theory, but lived experience

  • Meaningful conversations that acknowledge the weight you carry, offering perspective, language, and practical ways to carry it differently over time

  • A rhythm to the day that allows you to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with God, yourself, and others in a way that feels natural, not forced

  • You’ll leave with a little more clarity, a little more room to breathe, and a steady reminder that you are not alone in this work

We all wrestle.
With questions that don’t resolve, circumstances that don’t change, and parts of our own story that feel unfinished. The invitation of this retreat is not to escape the wrestle—but to learn how to rest within it.

Rest in the Wrestle is a space for ANYONE who needs to step away from the noise and return to what is most true: that even here, in the tension, God is present.

Together, we will explore the counterintuitive road to joy through:

  • The Curiosity of God — a God who moves toward us, not away

  • The Humility of God — a God who meets us in our low places

  • The Delight of God — a God who enjoys and welcomes us as we are

  • The Desire for More with God — a deeper invitation into life with Him

This is not a retreat about fixing what’s hard. It’s about discovering that even in the midst of it, you are not alone.

We would love for you to stay for our weekend retreat, Rest in the Wrestle, which is open to anyone. If you attend the Days of Encouragement, you get a discount if you register for both.

There will be three options for people to register for these special events:

  1. Days of Encouragement only - $125 (includes lunch Friday)

  2. Days of Encouragement AND Rest in the Wrestle - $250

  3. Rest in the Wrestle - $175 (includes Saturday dinner)

Beth Wayland

With 28 years in vocational ministry, she brings a rare blend of lived experience and trained insight to the inner lives of those she serves. She holds a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling, is a Certified Spiritual Director, and is in the final stages of completing a Doctor of Ministry in Spiritual Formation and Soul Care from Biola University. Her doctoral work focuses on Single Women in Vocational Ministry: The unique challenges they face according to stage of life and how the Church can support or hinder their thriving.

In 2015, she founded With Inc., a nonprofit devoted to helping ministry leaders walk with Jesus for a lifetime through retreats, seminars, cohorts, and spiritual direction. At the heart of her work is a deep conviction: when leaders are attentive to their souls—living aware of their lives under the care and connection of God—the people they serve are inevitably strengthened as well. She is a diehard UT Vol loyalist, so she knows first-hand about suffering.
